Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that his party would not consider alliance with political parties in power and consider alliance with parties out of parliament.

Talking to media persons here on Sunday, he said that intra-party election in PTI is 'first step' toward true democratic culture and would result in elimination of family politics and autocracy in the political parties. He said that holding party election is the most difficult decision of his 16-year-old political career and he made a huge achievement by undertaking this daunting task. He said that the workers of other political parties should also force their leaderships to hold intra-party elections," Imran Khan told reporters while inspecting one of the polling booths set up for the second phase of the PTI election held to elect over 90 office-bearers for Islamabad District.

The PTI chairman said that following the party election in the capital city, election would be held in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and other three provinces and this process would be completed by January-end. "All the party workers are to be congratulated on this big achievement as they have laid down the foundation of a true political culture in the country," he added. In reply to a question, he said that the PTI would not forge (election) alliance with any political party which has representation in the incumbent assemblies. However, he said that talks could be held with those parties who are not a part of the parliament right now.

To another question about Karachi situation, the PTI chief said that the voter lists across country should be error-free including Karachi. He said that his party supports delimitation in Karachi and the apex court decision was good in this regard.

"We support the Supreme Court decision on Karachi delimitation. The ruling parties in Karachi have formed their own militant wings. Until and unless these militant wings are smashed, peace cannot restore to the port city of Karachi. Now the people of Karachi will have to decide whether they want peace and security or they are happy to remain hostage to these political militants," he asserted. He said that his party supports more water reservoirs to meet energy crisis, but consensus is a must to construct Kalabagh Dam.

"If the Dam is constructed without evolving consensus, I fear that it might trigger unrest as the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh have reservations about the Kalabagh Dam. There is a dire need to remove their reservations," he added. He said that his party has requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allot election symbol of scale to the PTI for the upcoming general elections.
